Okay, okay, I braved a damp Saturday a couple weeks back, BARTed into the City from the East Bay with a couple of friends and we wandered over to Mint Plaza to see what all the fuss was about.
Oddly Pottery-Barnish, doesn't it kind of remind you of a science lab? The "communal table" the tall stools, the siphon beakers brought out by staff on metal stands. All that's missing is bunsen burners. :)
The coffee was delicious, but other than a once and a while adventure, I don't think I'd be able to deal with the wait (ours took 35 minutes) or the price (it was $10 for a siphon pot that served 3 with 6 oz. cups of yummy, rich, satisfying coffee).
I'll be at the opening tomorrow morning. I live and work in Napa and (over the last few years) have been teaching myself to cook and eat in more exciting ways. I look forward to the opening even though I know that if I get hooked on shopping there that most of my non-profit paycheck will be heading out the door...
Crisp photos Jennifer, they definitely show off the space. But, where have all the people gone? It reminds me of that first episode of the Twilight Zone (http://www.cbs.com/classics/the_twilight_zone/video/video.php?cid=621774886&pid=T201UEKSVko24O7YTrf5qpKoVz4he8UO&play=true&cc=0).
